Keeping your little ones content during teething
Teething is a process that all children go through. Teething does not seem to bother some children at all; other children become very upset and cranky during teething. There are some things that you can do in order to alleviate and teething problems and pain that your child may be experiencing.
Teething problems can happen when each tooth erupts from your child’s gums, or your child may experience teething problems depending upon the location of the tooth. For example, the front teeth seem to cause quiet a bit of pain for many children during teething.
One of the best ways to prevent teething problems or pain is to use a teething ring. A teething ring can be a ring made from hard plastic, or a ring filled with liquid. The ring is usually kept in the freezer and given to a child when he or she has teething pain. The idea is that biting down on the cold ring should help to minimize teething pain.
Instead of using teething rings, some parents give their children popsicles to eat when the teething pain is especially bad. If you decide to use teething rings, you should inspect the ring before each use. Any damaged rings should be thrown away and replaced.
Some children do not like teething rings. If your child is one of these, you may need to use other methods to help decrease teething pain. Many local drug stores or retail stores carry several products to help your child during teething. The key is to find the product that works best for your baby. Some babies like to have teething gel rubbed on their gums while other babies do best with teething tablets. Still other parents prefer to use herbal remedies for their children. Other parents just give their child a dose of acetominophen or a pain reliever when the pain appears to be very bad.
The good news is that teething is a relatively quick process. In no time at all, your child will be through the teething stage, and you will be dealing with the joys and problems associated with the next stage of development
