Celebrity Hair Loss
How do you feel about your hair? Can you get out of the shower; run your hand through it once or twice, and dash out the door for the day without giving it a second thought? For most people, I suspect the answer is a resounding NO! In fact, the fear of a bad hair day is a dreaded teenage nightmare, especially for women. Do the men of our world obsess over their hair like women do? Do they even care? Of course they do!
The biggest fear for men has to be hair loss. There are various causes for hair loss. Illness, stress, deficient diet, hormones, medications, genetics and chemotherapy are just a few. However, the good news is that there are many treatments as well. There are drugs, surgeries, hair pieces, etc. What would you do? Hair transplant (ouch!) in your future? Scalp massager? You would be researching all of these. There are a lot of types of hair loss treatment out there that can help out. It’s just a question of finding out which one suits. Don’t expect hair growth overnight either. It’s a slow process.
Imagine you are not only a man concerned about his looks, but a celebrity male experiencing hair loss. Would you try the dreaded comb-over? Or maybe shave it all off to make it look intentional, as though you just felt like a hairstyle change? Hey, you might even get lucky and turn into somebody really cool like Telly Savalis. But suppose you’re not purposely balding; in other words, your hair loss is, well, unintentional and you are high profile.
Gary Barlow, the singer/songwriter, lead singer of pop band ‘Take That’, and British X Factor judge has admitted losing his hair. But he’s also looking at ways to re-invigorate his hair much like he’s done the same for his career recently. It also brings to mind a favourite rock star from my youth and the big hair band days. Yes, I am referring to David Lee Roth. Millions of girls gushed over him as front-man of the band ‘Van Halen’. Then there was the fallout. I’m of course referring to his hair loss, not the band breakup! David lost his mane and had to regain (or perhaps Regaine?) it later in life. Celebs tend to panic when their hair begins to go but it’s not the end of the world.
